L’anello inizia dal centro storico di Ariano nel Polesine, per scoprire la località di San Basilio e dirigersi poi a Taglio di Po. Sul tragitto è possibile fare una deviazione a Grillara, per visitare il Museo Laboratorio l’Ocarina. A Taglio di Po si sale sull’argine del fiume e, costeggiandolo fino a Santa Maria in Punta, si rientra al centro di Ariano.

L’Isola di Ariano rappresenta il cuore della parte più antica del Delta moderno del Po. Il Po di Goro è il primo ramo che si separa dal corso principale del fiume. Da questo punto in poi, il ramo maestro prende il nome di Po di Venezia, in ricordo della gigantesca opera di ingegneria idraulica realizzata dalla Repubblica di Venezia tra il 1600 e il 1604. Questa deviazione del fiume ha dato origine all’attuale conformazione del Delta.

Salendo sull’argine, si pedala seguendo la corrente del fiume fino a raggiungere San Basilio, un piccolo borgo ricco di storia. Attraverso gli scavi archeologici, la chiesetta romanica costruita su una duna fossile e il grazioso museo locale, San Basilio racconta una storia antica che sorprendentemente risale fino all’epoca etrusca.

A Grillara, una piccola deviazione permette di visitare il Museo Laboratorio L’ocarina, dove scoprire e ascoltare “il suono della terra”. Qui, grazie alle sapienti mani di Benvenuto Fecchio, l’argilla trasportata dal Po viene trasformata in autentici strumenti musicali.

Un tempo Santa Maria e La Punta erano due paesi distinti. Oggi La Punta è stata completamente abbandonata, ma alcune case costruite in golena testimoniano le difficili condizioni di vita degli abitanti, costretti ad usare la barca durante le piene per spostarsi tra casa e paese.
Da non perdere la graziosa Chiesa di Santa Maria del Traghetto, impreziosita da un prezioso organo costruito da Francesco Dacci di Venezia nel 1784.
Il percorso si conclude dopo altri cinque chilometri di pedalata, tornando ad Ariano nel Polesine.
